I appreciate your article a lot as I have celiac after a crown was replaced and got infected because I don’t think the dentist did the last sterilization before putting a cap on. two weeks of antibiotics then he sent me to a gum surgeon and another week of antibiotics. Shortly after I finished I started spiraling downward and went from 122 pounds to 92 pounds all under a “doctors“ care. It’s infuriating to me how the fuel for our bodies is left completely out of a physicians schooling. It’s like learning about a car but not knowing how to put gas in it. So I have been on the SCD diet since 2013. It has helped but I’ve had a relapse recently and lost 10 pounds after gaining all of it Back and building up my muscles through physical therapy and using weights with my arms and my legs. So I’m always interested in these kinds of articles. I saw that you use Google calendars to I guess communicate that way. I don’t like using Google because I don’t like the way they track you. Anyhow thank you for your article and I will keep checking them out.
Thank you so much for sharing your story, Morgan. I’m truly sorry to hear everything you’ve been through. It’s heartbreaking how often people are left to connect the dots themselves after a cascade of interventions that don’t fully consider the whole person, or the critical role of nutrition in healing. You’re absolutely right: it’s like being trained to repair a car without learning how to refuel it.
It’s incredible that you’ve been so proactive, from following the SCD diet to rebuilding your strength with physical therapy. I know how devastating a setback can feel, especially after working so hard to make progress. I hope you’re able to find your footing again soon; your resilience shines through, and I’m honored to have you reading and connecting with what I share.
Wishing you continued strength and healing. I’m so glad you’re here. 💛
Thank you Karina! I think I am stabilizing now after months of slowly losing weight as not having a gallbladder makes me sensitive to fats. In 5/2022 i was able to completely go off the Vital Nutrients Pancreatic Enzymes I had been taking for 11 years. I was able to eat almond butter, peanut butter all kinds of nuts or anything SCD for several months enough time that I didn’t have DE in pill container attached to my belt loop. It was amazing. But I changed Drs from a GP I had been seeing for 20 + years as I was frustrated at her lack of knowledge. . She had closed down her private practice and was now under Adventist Health Corporation who puts $ over care. When I asked to see a nutritionist she told me that there wasn’t one except one that worked with diabetics. I was so thin you could see my rib cage front and back. I couldn’t look at myself hardly in the mirror. Saw new doc for about two years in a private practice she shared with doc who’d been there for decades. He closed down his private practice and new doc moved to corporate Adventist Health. I live in a small rural town so not much choice. The new doc started treating me different and questioning the sleep meds I take and have been taking for 25 years due to ruptured disc and nerve pain. She started wanting regular urine tests and an aide there told me it was drug testing. Doc was also not listening to me and I told her finally I felt uncared for. She was unresponsive to my comments which were said in an informative not reactionary way. She wrote things in doctors notes commenting that I was asking her to wear a face shield which was untrue. Aide told me it was him that had suggested to doc to wear. I became very stressed after 3 visits with her. I could not understand the big change in her demeanor. Obviously I didn’t know her very well. So that’s what broke my incredible build up of my body and I was again needing DE after everything I ate. Your work is so valuable and I have great respect for you. It is so vital and honorable work. Thanks again.
Thank you for sharing more of your journey! I’m so sorry you’ve had to navigate such dismissive and stressful experiences in your search for care. It’s unacceptable how often people are left feeling unheard, especially when they’re already managing so much.
I really admire your self-awareness and strength in continuing to advocate for yourself despite it all. And I’m genuinely grateful for your kind words, it means a lot. Please keep taking care of yourself, and know that you’re always welcome here. 💛
The body is so amazing! Thanks for sharing, Karina!
It really is! 💛 thanks for reading, Grace! 🤗

Thank you for taking the time to read the post. Happy you found value in it, Shartaya! 💛
Such an informative post. I am sure many people don’t even know what a vagus nerve is and how important it is to support it for our health.
Thank you, Danni! I agree! I, too, didn’t know for so long, until I learned functional nutrition. And I’ve been singing and humming ever since haha
